The Maleya Foundation (Maleya) was founded in 2003 by a group of committed personal of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). The Maleya Foundation was established to strengthen the capacities of major development actors of the CHT region, such as rural communities, local NGOs, community-based organizations, people’s organizations and mass-based organizations, among others.
After the formation, Maleya has been actively involved in various activities such as National and international days observations, workshop organizing etc. However, due to fund scarcity it could not perform many of its activities.
The present major activities of Maleya are as follows:
Running a training center in Rangamati: Maleya is running a training center in North Kalindipur, Rangamati. The Center was established on December 2007. It has 6 rooms for the accommodation for 18-20 participants. A caretaker is responsible for taking care of the center.
Workshop, Seminar and Training organizing and participation: Maleya has already participated in various training, workshop and seminar organized by various organizations. It also organized and assisted to organize some training, workshop along with Khagrapur Mahila Kalyan Samity, Khagrachari, and Adivasi Unnayan Kendra, Rangamati on Women Rights, Leadership, Documentation, Gender Sensitivity, Development Understanding, Environment and Poverty Issues.
Rapport building with GO and NGOs: During the last few years, Maleya has been able to establish good relation with various Government agencies and NGOs at the local and national level through organizing and participating several activities.
